Speaker Series - Thursday, February 20, 2014

The National Club is pleased to present as part of its speaker series Mr. Naeem Hasan, former Pakistani Ambassador to the Middle East, on "Why Syria and Iran Matter".

Mr. Hasan also did a long stint at the Organization of Islamic Conference in Saudi Arabia - the "Muslim UN" - in senior positions dealing with economic affairs and regional development issues which also took him on multiple offical visits to over 30 member countries spanning a vast region from Indonesia to North Africa.

He also served for three years as Secretary General of the Kathmandu based South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation when he frequently interacted with the political leaders and other official and business decision makers in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. He has worked closely with numerous UN bodies over the years and attended sevefral General Assembly Sessions.

Naeem holds a Master's Degree in Political Studies, an MPA (Public Administration), and an MSc. in Defense and Strategic Studies. He is a Canadian citizen permanently residing in Canada for the past ten years.

Starting his career at a newspaper, he has kept that journalistic detachment throughout his career. He can help you make business and political decisions by offering you an unbiased assessment of the current situation and the ensuing risks and prospects in an otherwise poorly-understood part of the world.

This talk is essential for anyone trying to understand the rapidly changing events of the Middle East.
